Kakamega County will host both the East African Secondary School Games and the Kenya National School Term Two Games in 2025 . A joint delegation, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Education, FEASSA, and KSSA, is conducting a three-day inspection of the county's sports facilities to ensure readiness for the events scheduled for late July and August . The delegation's visit began with a meeting with the Western Regional Security team, led by Regional Commissioner Irungu Macharia, who guaranteed sufficient security for the games . Organizers are evaluating the sporting facilities at Bukhungu Stadium and requesting security assistance due to anticipated large crowds from Kakamega County and neighboring Uganda. International sports officials are expected to attend, representing a school sports governing body and teams outside the East African Community (EAC) region. The event will provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and potentially gain international sponsorships. Finally, there's a plea to the national and county governments for expedited renovations at Bukhungu Stadium, particularly to the playing field, to ensure the final football matches are held in a secure, enclosed venue.
