SOLIDARITY PROTEST AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Following the cruel murder of Madam beatrice; English literature teacher at Kamureito secondary, today as she was laid to rest at her home in Chepkosiom, Sotik Subcounty, teachers demonstrated their solidarity against Gender-based  violence by holding a peaceful march from Kaplong Town to her home in chepkosiom.

At a funeral, the attendees strongly denounced gender-based violence (GBV) , proposing a re-evaluation of traditional male initiation rites to include lessons on respectful co-existence with empowered women .  A Kaplong Girls alumna, Chepsoy, emotionally appealed to the deceased's spirit for vengeance against the known killer, pleading for the orphaned children's safety and well-being . She implored that the children not be harmed if marriages fail, instead advocating for their return to their welcoming parents.

KUPPET and KNUT's executive secretaries denounced gender-based violence and sought justice for Beatrice's family.  They also urged the government offer guidance and counseling and  to protect its citizens including those in Ang'ata barikoi.

Norah Cherukwen, the KUPPET Bomet Branch Secretary Gender, expressed her sincere gratitude to her colleagues for their unwavering moral and financial support during the funeral of their beloved colleague, Beatrice.  She stated that their unity and compassion provided strength and comfort during their time of grief, thanking them for standing with the family and everyone involved.
